Many of you have told us that you would like more help to achieve your annual CPPD points. One of the many ways in which you can gain points is to read and reflect on a published therapy-related article, such as those that appear in International Therapist. This could gain you 2 CPPD points for each article you comment on, up to a maximum of 5 points per year. (But don't forget if you do more you can carry excess points over to the following year.)
Your thoughts and reflections have to be written down, in a minimum of 300 words, and a copy kept in your CPPD portfolio. Remember, it is your responsibility to keep a record of how you are achieving your CPPD points. You don't need to send these in to FHT unless you are requested to do so - it is for your own records.
But where to start? To help you in this task, we will be asking a number of questions for you to answer in each issue of International Therapist, starting from issue 77 (July/Aug 2007). There will be three sets of questions, relating to three key features in the magazine. To gain 2 CPPD points, you only need to answer questions relating to one article. You can answer them as fully as you like, focusing on one or all of the questions - but remember there must be a minimum of 300 words in total about each article.
You can use any format you like. You can use bullet points, as long as you write in complete sentences, or write in essay form. You can draw on your own experience as a therapist and use examples from your own treatments. You can bring in any theoretical knowledge you have or refer to other evidence or research to support your comments. Above all it is about what you think after reading the article.
If you don't think the questions are helpful to you, don't be afraid to pose your own or just comment generally. Our questions are there to get you thinking and are not prescriptive or exhaustive. If you would rather comment on another article in this magazine or those from another publication or on?line, then go right ahead.
Good luck!
