Bharti Vyas (Vice-president)

Bharti Vyas believes in getting the balance right between work and home life, a philosophy which has enriched her life for many, many years.

A trained Beauty Therapist, Bharti was one of the first people to embrace holistic therapy - over 25 years ago. Since then Bharti has been a pioneer, helping to transform the public's perception of the beauty therapy industry as a whole.

Even though she has a high public profile Bharti is still a keen practitioner. She is a trained aromatherapist, acupuncturist, Ayurvedic well-being therapist, magnet therapist and laser therapist. She runs two very successful beauty and laser centres in Marylebone, London and another in Harrow, Middlesex, where she still manages to meet and practice on clients who have stayed loyal to her for many years.

In addition to practicing, Bharti has written several books on holistic health and is the skin care consultant for Tesco, having worked with them on their high profile holistic beauty range 'skin wisdom'.

She has also developed her own skin care range, Bharti Vyas Ultimate Therapy Range whilst at the same time championing the cause of holistic beauty therapy in the media, including radio and TV.

Commenting on her continued energy for the industry Bharti says, "I am very passionate about the work I do. I have not just focussed on the success of my own businesses but have worked hard in helping to improve and progress the beauty industry as a whole. I have a tremendous amount of energy and am always looking for ways to increase my knowledge, so that I can pass it on to clients and the industry."

She believes that the FHT is pivotal to bring about change and improvements to the industry. Talking about her role on the board she says, "I have been in the beauty industry for a long time and throughout that time I hear from both sides of the industry - educators, clients, employees and employers. I have met hundreds of people in my last 27 years in the industry and believe my experience will be invaluable in helping the industry to progress as a whole. I would also like to see the FHT being pivotal in bringing about legislative changes within the industry as a whole."

So where does home life fit into all this? Bharti spends her spare time with her daughters Shailu, 43, Priti, 41 and her 4 grandchildren. She is fortunate enough to have a wonderful family home in India where she manages to spend 4 months of the year catching up with friends and family!
