Having put her tax collecting days behind her in the early 1990's, Christine decided to tax herself in a different way with a new career in complementary therapy.Firstly Christine trained as an aromatherapist and reflexologist and when her confidence, experience and clientele grew she set up her own business in 1994. As the businesses expanded, Christine found that public knowledge of complementary therapies was limited which is one of the reasons in 1996 that she started to deliver talks in this area.As the complementary industry has grown, Christine's teaching and practical skills were soon in demand, so in 1999, she joined full-time a local FE College as Salon Area Leader in Holistic Therapies. Not one to rest on her laurels, she has worked hard to improve the image and educate people on complementary therapy. Between 2004 - 2007, she worked in partnership with other colleges on the first ever foundation degree in Aromatherapy in the North East of England. In addition, from 2004 until the present day she works at an integrated healthcare centre as a complementary therapist. In 2007 Christine took her extensive experience and knowledge and set up a training company called Ethos (Education, Training, Health and Online Service Ltd), which delivers a wide range of complementary health therapy courses accredited with FHT, IFPA and VTCT.Commenting upon her experience and the work of the FHT Christine is positive it can make a difference."Whilst I have over 15 years of experience to offer the members of the FHT, I also offer excellent business acumen which, when combined with my experience in both a clinical and educational environment enables me to work proactively in raising the profile of the FHT.I want the FHT to be perceived by therapists to be the best professional association to belong to and recognised by the industry and general public as such."It is not all work and no play for Christine. She loves spending time with her family and friends and is blessed with two lovely children, a supportive and loving husband and fabulous 'young at heart' parents. In between walking her dog, Charlie, Christine spends her time reading, embroidery, swimming, Yoga and Pilates.
