Birmingham South local group

Welcome to the Birmingham South local group page. We have meetings every other month to introduce expert speakers in their field to both members and non-members.  It is a way to try something out without commitment and to meet like-minded people.

Meetings and events

Date: 19 February 2019
Time: 10am - 5pm
Venue: Quaker Meeting House, 17 Colmore Road, Kings Heath, B14 7PE
Topic: Introduction to Shamanic Journeying Course

Shamans use a journeying technique to access the world of spirit. It is the cornerstone of their work and involves moving their awareness from one reality to another using a specific method. During the journey a Shaman seeks information, guidance and healing directly from spirits who are both compassionate and omniscient. It is a gift that can be learnt by anyone.
Mandy Pullen is a very experienced Practitioner and runs workshops and courses in Gloucester and Cheltenham. This is a rare opportunity to do this course at a reasonable price, on your doorstep. £55.00 for the day including all refreshments, but bring your own lunch.

Topic: Nutrition for older people with Mel Wakeman

Mel Wakeman is a registered Nutritionist with a lifetime passion for nutrition. Before Wakeman Nutrition, Mel spent 26 years studying and teaching as a senior lecturer in Nutrition and Applied Physiology. She now has a private practice and coaches individuals as well as organisations. Mel specialises in non-diet nutrition and has a very balanced approached to eating well. She saves people from unnecessary food rules and nutrition nonsense, helping them build a positive relationship with food and themselves. Mel says, we read and hear so much in the news about what we ‘should’ be eating for our health. The problem is we are told to do one thing one week then something else the next, so it gets very confusing! Mel will bust some myths and help you wade through some of the nutrition nonsense to get the right information about how diet can help support and protect your gut health, immune system, heart health, joints and general well-being as we grow old gracefully!
