Course description: This one-day workshop has been developed to combine your expertise and experience, blending it with specialist skills to give you the confidence to springboard with competence into a rewarding field. We cover progressive approaches which will enable you to empower someone living with dementia to feel comfortable about receiving nurturing touch massage.
Massaging vulnerable people can be a tricky road to navigate. This course is designed to make that easier to equip you with a map, satnav and compass to help you traverse the road a little more smoothly.
'How to massage people with dementia' is a course which aims to give you a better understanding of dementia, the law and how it affects you and your clients. It explores permission and touch, equipping you with more tools in your navigational bag to understand the drivers behind unmet needs and how you can help fulfil them through nurturing touch techniques. We cover top tips on communicating with cognitively impaired people and discuss the impact of this disease and how we can be enablers.
We can look in to the benefits of massage with the client in mind so you have a basis on which to sell your service.
We also explore the impact dementia can have on the brain and in turn people's lives, so be prepared to have empathy buttons pressed and have beliefs challenged.
This is a fresh, engaging, profound and fun course which is jam-packed with some amazing tools you can take away and use immediately.
Delegates will gain 7 CPD points for attending this course.
You will need to bring: Pen, paper, pencil, a therapy couch (with couch covers, 2 towels/ small blankets, 1 pillow)
