How Hormones Affect Muscles - Claire Snowdon Darling, Functional Wellness

Bodyworkers are often challenged by a clients structural issues that keep coming back despite using every tool and technique they've been taught. In this eye opening seminar, Claire will talk about the muscle-organ-meridian connection, and how imbalanced hormones affect muscles and posture and what we can do to create real, lasting change with our clients.

Claire Snowdon-Darling is a lecturer, author and speaker specialising in hormone dysregulation, diet, and menopause. Claire is the creator of Functional Kinesiology and the Head of The College of Functional Wellness which teaches practitioners all over the world. Her book “How to Feel Better During Menopause” due for publication in October 2024 through Jessica Kingsley Publishing.


Six Foundations of Hands Free Massage - Darien Pritchard, Dynamic Massage

Have you ever had an overenthusiastic person ‘mash’ you under their forearm? or cause you excruciating pain and maybe leave you bruised by digging the point of their elbow over-forcefully into a knot of tension? And has this turned you off using your forearm or elbow? This interactive, practical workshop covers some important foundations that are essential for working Hands Free with skill (using the HF tools with precision) and sensitivity (monitoring and adapting to the client’s responses). In this session, we’ll cover each principle on our own bodies (seated and clothed). Please wear shorts so that you can apply them on your own legs.

Darien Pritchard has been a massage trainer since 1982 (including teaching on a university degree course), served on the General Council for Massage Therapy (GCMT) and has written 2 massage textbooks. Darien has spearheaded a practical focus in massage teaching on how practitioners can use their hands and bodies safely and most effectively to maintain their careers, including pioneering the original Hands Free Massage training over twenty years ago (the skilful, sensitive use of the forearm and elbow).

Using the Soccer Injury Movement Screen (SIMS) in Youth Female Footballers - Vicki Evans & Sarah Martin, Plymouth Marjon University

The youth female football game has increased in popularity over recent years and movement quality may be a potential risk factor for injury. The soccer specific injury movement screen (SIMS) is designed to reflect the common lower limb injury sites and types (sprains and strains) of injury. It comprises 5 different movements, which assess mobility, strength and stability.

Vicki, a Lecturer, and Sarah, a Senior Lecturer, specialise in teaching Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation at Plymouth Marjon University. Vicki is a physical performance coach for young female footballers on the FA High Performance Centre, guiding them on the England Talent Pathway.
